2019 Art Show Committee

An official sala event
The South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival was established in 1998 to promote and celebrate the many talented visual artists in South Australia. They allow all artists at any level and working in any medium to be part of the annual festival every August.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL 2019 SELECTED ARTISTS
The final list of artists has now been selected for the Saint Ignatius 2019 Art Show. This year there is a great mix of painters, sculptors and aboriginal artists. We are also happy to include our emerging artist and printmakers who are going to have their dedicated spaces to show their art. Opening night tickets are now available through TryBooking.
A Message from our convenor

Welcome to the Saint Ignatius 2019 Art Show. This year marks our 15th Art Show since it began in the year 2000. Its continued success and quality has seen the Art Show become part of the state-wide South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival and has been a biennial feature since 2009. The SALA Festival aims to promote and celebrate the many talented visual artists in South Australia…
New in 2019 art show
james parker curator

We are delighted to announce that James Parker has stepped into the role of Curator for the Saint Ignatius 2019 Art Show. James, a practicing artist, has been on the organising committee since 2013 and has been the driving force for our small works installation for the past four art shows. His creative energy knows no bounds and we look forward to his direction of exciting, new initiatives for our upcoming Art show.
Emerging
Artists

In 2019, an Emerging Artist Prize will be awarded for the first time. The 2019 Emerging Artist Award has been sponsored by Purple Cockatoo Gallery, Norwood.
‘Welcome to the jungle’

Successful applicants are now invited to participate in the small works installation “Welcome to the Jungle”. The small work can be in lieu of your $50 entry fee. Alternatively, you are very welcome to donate a work to the installation. Artists need to interpret the theme using the medium of your choice. All works will be for sale at the Art show for $80. Artists not showing for 2019 are also encouraged to participate.

My artwork is focused on perceptual intent. Personally, the most important elements in my work are optical determination and overall impression. I am intensely passionate in regard to experimenting with contemporary materials in diverse geometrical forms, incorporating mutable lighting to produce colour and movement. Configuring in manifold ways to create an enhanced perspective has always fascinated and challenged me. Ultimately, my aim is to engender an aesthetic effect that is truly unique. I admire art for its creativity and perfection and desire that the observers of my art find these qualities in my concepts.
